What is Platelet Rich Plasma?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a new treatment to improve cosmesis of your skin. A test tube of your own blood is freshly taken, spun down in a centrifuge, and the clear plasma fluid, which is rich in platelets, STEM cells, and chemical messengers called growth factors, is injected with tiny needles under your skin. PRP has been used extensively in Europe, Korea and Japan for many years.
What does PRP do?
Platelet-rich plasma is used to accelerate wound healing and tissue regeneration.
Activated platelets release multiple growth factors that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and morphogenesis.
Individual growth factors present in platelet rich plasma have been demonstrated to affect the repair of skin cells.
Essentially you are directly stimulating healing and growth in your skin. PRP is a fantastic way to improve skin texture, crepey skin, fine lines and loose skin anywhere on the face, neck, or the rest of the body. It is also showing promise as a treatment for hair loss.
Is it safe?
Yes - because we are using your own plasma there is no risk of allergy or cross infection. Because you are stimulating the natural processes in the skin there is no risk of over correction.
Is there any downtime?
Most will experience some swelling for 1-2 days only. There may occasionally be some bruising.
How many treatments are required?
This will vary depending on the individual and the desired results. Generally 1-3 treatments are performed at monthly intervals. "Top up" treatments can then be performed annually or as required.
How much does it cost?
Price will depend on how large an area is treated and the number of treatments required. Starts at $399 per treatment.
